Renewable Energy and Biofuels Tours

The production of Renewable Energy and Biofuels are established technologies but there are few places within the UK where one can see mature plants in operation. The purpose of the renewable energy tour is to provide those serious about renewable energy projects with the evidence that the technology is proven and delivers what is promised.

We have built a network of contacts in the renewable energy sector across Europe to enable us to show renewable energy projects and biofuels in a working environment for both small scale and industrial scale operations. Listed for your information are the options for inclusion in bespoke tours which will be designed to fit your need. These are all successful operations, well established and with proven payback records, either directly benefiting local communities or small farming cooperatives:

Anaerobic Digestion

Small scale. Visit a small farm producing electricity from an AD plant using pig or cow slurry and dry feed stock delivered by local farmers as part of a cooperative. Theses farm produce electricity direct to the grid at a contracted price set for 10 or more years.

Anaerobic Digestion – Industrial Scale

Visit a medium size town using AD to produce power for the town. The plant is owned by the local authority, a major power company and local farmers who produce the feed stock for the system.

Biomass – Small scale

Visit a farm using biomass – wood chip, to power a generator producing electricity for the grid.

Biomass – Industrial Scale

Visit a large plant facility and see an industrial scale biomass boiler providing hot water and heat to all municipal buildings and a number of private houses, using wood provided by local farmers. The plant is owned by the local authority, the energy company and the local farmers.

Photovoltaic

See solar powered systems providing light and hot water as part of a combined heating system supporting a biomass woodchip boiler. These mixed systems are common across both countries and will be seen in farm buildings, hotels and municipal buildings.

Rape Seed

See use of Rape seed presses by both small scale and industrial scale plants to produce fuel to operate machinery and vehicles and for use in production of biofuels.

Biofuel

See the production of food stock, mixing process and use of biodiesel.

Wind Power

See wind farm and single tower wind facilities supplying a range of customers as part of a mix of renewable energy alternatives.

Government and Academia

The tour can include the opportunity to speak to government representatives and academic specialists dealing with all forms of renewable energy, food stocks and biofuels, to obtain first had information about technologies and government policies.

All tours are accompanied by German speaking tour guides and offer transportation and flights.
