An Invitation to view the TEC model and see the plans, to understand the reasons and study information on the Anaerobic Digester planned for Gibbet Moor Farm, near Rackenford in the parish of Stoodleigh.
In the UK, people now recognise the fact that our reliance on oil and fossil fuels cannot continue in the way that it has for the last decade.
Most agree that Renewable Energy production is now necessary but opinions differ on where and how this is to be achieved, using technologies such as wind generation, solar, biomass heating and anaerobic digestion.
The proposed building of the TIVERTON ENERGY CENTRE (TEC) anaerobic digester, at Gibbet Moor Farm in the parish of Stoodleigh, to produce electricity and fuel from waste organic matter has generated strong opinion, some in favour, some vehemently opposed!
Winston Reed, the director of ‘Greener for Life’ sustainable food and energy business, is the site owner and developer of the proposed renewable energy centre. He currently farms 2500 acres with 1300 dairy cows plus youngstock at Cleave Farm near Templeton with land running up to the North Devon link road (A361) where the development is planned.
The farms animal waste will provide the base of the requirement for the anaerobic digester with the remaining material coming from local poultry farms, local food processors, household waste food collections if established in this region by the local authority along with a limited amount of locally grown grass crops.
The Tiverton Energy Centre (TEC) development offers a unique opportunity for the Tiverton area to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels by capturing energy from waste, it means that the life of our landfill sites will be extended saving tax payers money while helping to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment.
The building of the TEC development also has the potential of being of direct benefit to individuals offering the opportunity to secure sustainable renewable and locally produced bio-fuel and ‘green’ electricity.
It is intended that a ‘TEC association’ will be set up to inform supporters on developments and to advise on opportunities as they arise.
As part of the normal planning process, Winston is holding a open day / evening at Stoodleigh Village Hall on Tuesday 2nd September to give local residents the opportunity to see the plans, to question and understand the technology and processes involved, to understand the reasoning and feasibilities studies for the choice of site and to allay any fears and worries they may have.
