Wastes diverted from other
routes of disposal will improve the local environment. This gives
householders and businesses an opportunity to help in the recovery
of energy, save money and play an important part in creating a sustainable
local food and fuel supply.
Crops for the biodiesel and bioethanol plant as well
as feedstocks for the biogas plant will all be sourced locally
from surrounding farms, businesses and communities. While reducing
fuel use, haulage costs and any detrimental impact that this has
on the environment we are also providing local employment.
Farmers, agricultural contractors and local hauliers
will be key to supplying the raw materials to produce the renewable
energy fuels and electricity. This provides a local outlet for
farm produce and a safe environmentally sound outlet for local
business and household organic waste.
Employment will be created in the running of the plants along with
the obvious benefits to local business during construction. The
local economy will be strengthened by keeping money within the community.
This has been demonstrated within similar projects in Europe and
has resulted in a massive level of regeneration in those communities.
It is now time for the UK to catch up with other countries that
have seen, for many years, the huge potential of converting waste
to energy and using crops for fuel. By integrating the systems together
the economic and environmental benefits are indisputable and essential
for a sustainable future.
